How good is your sense of money?

Most people have no idea what a company really earns, what a famous deal cost, or what a dollar used to buy. Valuely tests that instinct: three real figures every day, one guess each, no looking it up, scored by how close you land against everyone else who played.

Nobody knows these numbers off the top of their head. That is the point. The fun is in reasoning your way to a sensible guess, then finding out the real figure, with a line of napkin maths showing how you could have got there.

Scoring

Your score on each question is how many times off you were. Guessing double or half the answer is 2× off; guessing ten times too high or too low is 10× off. Your day is the average of the three. Lower is better.

Sources

Every answer comes from a public source: company filings, government statistics, auction records, reputable reporting. The source is shown with each answer. If you think a figure is wrong, tell us and we will check it.

Your results and streak are saved in your browser. We store each guess anonymously so we can show you how you compare with other players. See the privacy page for the details.
